GAZA, Dec. 29 -- As the scene in Gaza increasingly comes to resemble the Nazi liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto, President-elect Barack "Barracks" Obama has weighed in on the situation. Unsurprisingly, he cast his lot with the forces of racist occupation.

The situation worsens

Casualties in Gaza are spiraling upwards. More than 350 are dead and 1,500 wounded, including scores of civilians--among them, dozens of children. Hospitals, reportedly out of even the most basic medical supplies, such as saline, gauze and every blood type, are now also out of another crucial item: space. Al Jazeera reports local hospitals have now "warned they are unable to cope with any more casualties."

The supply lines from the outside world into Gaza that provide the most basic necessities to sustain life have been cut off. Because of the Israeli blockade, they came only through a dangerous network of poorly constructed tunnels from Egypt. However, Israel has carpet-bombed the border between Palestine and Egypt, knocking many if not most of these tunnels out. 1.5 million Gazans are now trapped in an Israeli-made, U.S.-backed hell on earth; and the wolves are at the door, as Israeli tanks and soldiers mass everywhere along the Apartheid Wall awaiting deployment in the form of a ground assault.

"Yes You Can!": Obama has warm words for Zionist killers

According to the New York Times, in July Obama stated:

“If somebody was sending rockets into my house, where my two daughters sleep at night, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop that,” he told reporters in Sderot, a small city on the edge of Gaza that has been hit repeatedly by rocket fire. “And I would expect Israelis to do the same thing.”

Lest one imagine Obama's views have actually moved leftward on the subject,  consider the following (also from Al Jazeera):

But although the president-elect has received briefings on the situation, David Axelrod, Obama’s top political adviser, said it would be inappropriate for the incoming chief executive to comment while George Bush is still president.

Nevertheless, he said Obama stood by his defence of Israeli actions when he visited the southern town of Sderot last July, a frequent target of Hamas rockets.

"He said then that when bombs are raining down on your citizens there is an urge to respond and act to put an end to that," Axelrod told CBS talkshow Face the Nation on Sunday.

"That's what he said then, and that’s what he believes."

He said Obama planned to work closely with Israel which he said was Washington's "most important ally in the region".

The obtuseness of Obama's statement ("If somebody was sending rockets...") is nothing short of breathtaking. If this is what Obama--openly siding with the bosses of a viciously racist apartheid state like Israel--has in store for the working class of Palestine, one shudders to think what he has in store for workers elsewhere, including, of course, the U.S. Not even yet inaugurated, Obama is letting his backers know just how seriously he takes the long-term stakes for the dominance of U.S. imperialism, and he is doing it with the blood of Palestinian workers.

So much for pan-Arab nationalism

In related news, protests have broken out in neighboring Arab countries after the Israeli foreign minister bragged about how much support her country was receiving in the rape of Gaza from the rulers of those countries. As usual, nationalism is still a dead-end for revolutionaries and the working class at large; Arab bosses use it when it is convenient and abandon it when it is not (e.g., when it threatens their own stability, power and, above all, their economies).

In other words, Arab rulers see it for what it is: a façade, a superficial means to an end. Indeed, Israeli and Palestinian workers have no one to rely on but one another--and, of course, the international working class!

What We Fight For

Progressive Labor Party (PLP) fights to smash capitalism -- wage slavery. While the bosses and their mouthpieces claim "communism is dead:" capitalism is the real failure for billions all over the world. Capitalism returned to the Soviet Union and China because socialism failed to wipe out many aspects of the profit system, like wages and division of labor.

Capitalism inevitably leads to wars. PLP organizes workers, students and soldiers to turn these wars into a revolution for communism -- the dictatorship of the proletariat. This fight requires a mass Red Army led by the communist PLP.

Communism means working collectively to build a society where sharing is based on need. We will abolish work for wages, money and profits. Everyone will share in society's benefits and burdens.

Communism means abolishing racism and the concept of race.

Communism means abolishing the special oppression of women workers.

Communism means abolishing nations and nationalism. One International working class, one world, one Party.

Communism means the Party leads every aspect of society. For this to work, millions of workers -- eventually everyone -- must become communist organizers. Join Us!
